Fourth, optimize it and make it as bug-free as possible (we learned a lot of lessons from Portia). Third, we’re going to have a dedicated single-player RPG and a special mode where friends or strangers can play together. We’re still aiming for a Miyazaki-inspired kind of world, but with a few other surprises thrown in… Second, we wanted to have the overall story arc be more satisfying, but also with more focus on each individual NPC. First, Sandrock will have a similar pathos to My Time at Portia, but offer a completely new experience with new types of gameplay. On top of that, we really wanted to include a form of multiplayer that would really meet expectations for our players, and My Time at Portia’s programming structure just didn’t support that. We required better graphics, better optimization, more story, and more satisfying gameplay systems: basically, we needed better production values across the board. But as we delved deeper into game production, we realized that in order to fully express the tale of Sandrock, we needed to start from scratch. Considered a follow-up to My Time at Portia, the game retains the main aspects of the life simulation genre while letting players restore the community to its former glory. When we started working on Sandrock, it was supposed to be a downloadable addition to My Time at Portia. My Time at Sandrock was first released in early access back in May 2022. Lastly, the much-requested planting system will be added to My Time at Sandrock, allowing players to farm their workshop to get crops. This new board will also help players count on their teammates as their quest progress is shared.Īs part of the beta testing, players will explore ruins to face challenges and take on the newly-added monsters with their friends. They can earn plentiful rewards by improving workshops and commerces. Players will use a co-op commission board in the workshop that will provide more co-op missions, including hunting and planting. It also features a new in-game announcement system that will keep players up to date on game updates and server maintenance. The commerce guild has been upgraded to level 20 with new machines and sensors. The open beta introduces an updated story background, in which some events and NPCs might differ from the single-player story due to them happening nearly 50 years ago. This test was followed by an open pre-alpha test in September 2022. My Time at Sandrock previously had a closed alpha test back in August 2022 to gather feedback from a small batch of lucky players. Players will have access to a catalog of new content to build their town with friends, such as an upgraded town management system that lets them set up private rooms, invite specific players to join their team, and manage builder access. Pathea Games announced via a blog post that the beta testing will take place between January 12, 10:00 PM ET and January 13, 04:00 CET local time. The upcoming beta test will bring a bunch of new content, including new multiplayer co-op commissions, a planting and mounting system, new monsters, plus an advanced town management system that allows players to kick out inactive members. The follow-up to indie hit My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock, will receive its first multiplayer open beta starting on January 12, followed by an early access period at a later date.
